What is Re-opless?

Re-opless is an automated IRC game that runs 24/7 in the #re-opless channel on IRCnet.

How does it work?

Every 90 minutes, the server randomly selects a user in the channel and grants them operator status (+o). When you receive op, you earn 1 point.

The twist? To keep the game running, you must remove the op status from yourself (deop). If you don't, the game pauses until you do!

How to join

First, connect to an IRCnet server. You can find a list of available servers at www.ircnet.info/servers

Once connected, simply join #re-opless and you're automatically part of the game!

Automatic Scripts

To ensure the game never stops (even when you're away), it's recommended to use an auto-deop script. This will automatically remove op status after 10 seconds whenever you receive it.

Installation Instructions

🔧 For ZNC users:

  1. Download the autodeop.py file
  2. Copy it to your ZNC modules directory: ~/.znc/modules/
  3. Load the module with this command:
/msg *status loadmod autodeop

The script will automatically remove op after 10 seconds in #re-opless

🔧 For irssi users:

  1. Download the autodeop.pl file
  2. Copy it to your irssi scripts directory: ~/.irssi/scripts/
  3. Load the script in irssi:
/script load autodeop.pl

To auto-load on startup, create a symlink:

cd ~/.irssi/scripts/autorun/ ln -s ../autodeop.pl .
